SPOILER ALERT

Fans everywhere have waited in anticipation for the return of the No. 1 show on television. Season 7 of AMC’s The Walking Dead premiered October 23, 9 p.m. Since the finale of Season 6 in April, ending on a cliffhanger, fans everywhere have ground their teeth wondering what will come next.

The season premiered with fans finally finding out who Negan killed. Many fans didn’t know whether to be angry or upset. It can be very difficult to deal with the fact that you will never experience that character again. Once gone they are gone they are gone for good. But this wasn’t the only shock of the Season 7 premiere. Once done killing one, Negan turned and beat another to death with his baseball bat Lucille. This was a risky decision for the writers, killing another character when the audience is already dealing with the loss of one. We have yet to find out whether this was the correct sequence of events.

For anyone unfamiliar with The Walking Dead, it is an extremely popular AMC television about a group of survivors living during a “zombie apocalypse” struggling to deal not only with the impending danger of being eaten alive at any moment but also trying to cope with themselves and each other. The series premiered back in October of 2010 and was an immediate a hit all around the world and with each season it grows more popular. However The Walking Dead has not always been on the small screen. It started out as a comic book back in 2003, created and written by Robert Kirkman. It too has had great success. Although the television series only loosely follows the comic, they have the same overall story line.

Fans everywhere have grown extremely attached to the series and its characters. The Walking Dead is great for horror fans seeking not only action but also a romance-filled drama. This is probably why the series has grown so popular. Because it is the best of both worlds and can interest a variety of audiences. The characters of the series have not only become famous but iconic. What the show accomplishes better than most shows is that what the characters feel, the audience feels back. We grow attached to them and feel more emotions towards them, because unlike other television show characters we are able to lose them more frequently. There is a death almost every episode. It is not a question of if we will lose someone this episode, but who?

I highly recommend The Walking Dead to anyone who wants a series that keeps you coming back for more; a series that makes the characters feel real to us. I have been watching since the beginning and I can’t wait for what the rest of Season 7 has to offer.
