Spring Sports Post Season Results

All of Wantagh’s spring sports teams have had great success at the end of their season and into the post season. Girls’ varsity softball, after getting off to a difficult start, came back to be named Conference champions. Unfortunately the girls were knocked out in the first round of playoffs in a tough game against Island Trees. Boys’ baseball made it into the playoffs yet again after an exciting game against New Hyde Park. Brett Neuman recorded an RBI in the sixth inning to put the Warriors ahead and Alec Guerin got the final two outs with the bases loaded to pick up the save. The boys were knocked out of playoffs in the second round after a 6-4 loss to Manhasset.
The boys’ varsity lacrosse team dominated Hewlett 16-3 in the first round of playoffs. Kyle Cain had three goals and four assists, along with Casey Murphy’s four goals and Vinny Vasheo’s two to lead the offense. Goalie Bobby Beshlian led the defensive end with 14 saves. The boys advanced to the next round where they were defeated by rival, Garden City 10-3.
The Varsity badminton team went 11-1 and fell just one game short of Conference champions. The team is led by key players Cassidy Hartman, Lizzy Buccheri and Valerie Chin.
