The 75th Golden Globe Awards honored film and American television of 2017. I Seth Meyers hosted from the Beverly Hills Hilton, January 7.
Lady Bird, Three Billboards and The Shape of Water were films that won big followed by TV shows The Handmaid’s Tale, Big Little Lies, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The unforgettable moment of the night was Oprah Winfrey’s heartfelt speech regarding sexual abuse, race issues, and societal concerns. She spoke on behalf of the individuals who encountered such unfair treatment. She received the Golden Globes’ Cecil B.DeMille Award for lifetime achievement, following her powerful speech.
She acknowledged to the audience of how special it is for her to become the first black woman to accept the award. Her message was to provoke the thought of others in which nobody has to say “me too” again. Oprah’s inspirational speech brought tears to the eyes of many. The stars in the crowd all dressed in black in support of the #Metoo movement. The #Metoo movement unites women who have been sexually assaulted. The hashtag is flooding every social media app and shares personal stories of women who have experienced similar situations. The #Metoo movement started by singer/actress Alyssa Milano addressing the problem of sexual misconduct.
She explains the world needs to be aware of the magnitude of the issue and understand it affects many individuals today. Ever since her tweet in early October, many women have opened up about their stories online through social media. Lots of chatter has uplifted on social media of Oprah Winfrey running for President of the United States in the year of 2020.
