Realizing that that your actions during your teenage years can impact your future is a very important lesson. One individual who had to learn this lesson the hard way is Brett Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh is an American attorney and jurist who serves as a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He was nominated by president Trump to become the ninth Supreme Court Justice.

A Stanford professor from Washington D.C named Christine Blasey Ford wrote an anonymous letter to her senator explaining how when she was in high school, Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a party. She wanted her identity to remain unknown because she feared that going public could be dangerous for her and her family. Her letter was exposed and her worst fears were realized as her life was flipped upside down. Since Ford’s statement, three other women have made allegations against him.

Since her allegations have been released, there has been many news articles and interviews that have raised concerns about Kavanaugh’s credibility. Kavanaugh is working hard to try and prove that he did not sexually assault Ford or any other women.

The case is still ongoing and on Friday, Sept. 28 Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) called for an FBI investigation into the allegations against Kavanaugh, ultimately spurring the White House to order the extra background check. Republicans said it should take no longer than one week.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, speaking on the Senate floor about Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination, repeated his promise for a vote on October 5.
