As the holidays rapidly approached, the Wantagh community entered the season of giving. From providing Thanksgiving dinners to supplying children with books, the Wantagh High School student body had got it covered.
The student government had organized a Thanksgiving food drive, which donated to about 10 families in need around the community. Along with G.O., both the Spanish and Italian clubs held food drives as the holidays began to approach. The Spanish club donated the food they had raised to the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church on Wantagh Avenue.
Wantagh High School’s Key Club has done countless fundraisers this year; it is a great way for students to help their community. Their most recent fundraiser held was a book drive, which had been donated to The Book Fairies of Freeport. In the near future, they will be creating pet toys out of old T-shirts.
In the near future, Key Club will be creating pet toys out of old T-shirts. In addition, there is a box located in the main lobby that is accepting new or slightly used PSAT, SAT, and Regents books. If you are looking for places to donate, or gain volunteer hours, Island Harvest, Last Hope, Book Fairies, and Wantagh Public Library always have community service opportunities.
