Michelle Smith, Sports Editor

The Broadway show Moulin Rouge!, a jukebox musical based on Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film of the same name, has been on Broadway since 2019 and has been incredibly popular and successful since. In 2021, the show was nominated for 14 Tony Awards and won 10, including Best Musical. Lead actor Aaron Tveit, in the role of Christian, won Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. Tveit, who left the show in 2021, will be rejoining the cast for a 12 week stretch from January to April.

Moulin Rouge! takes place in 1899 and tells the story of Christian, an English poet who goes to Paris and falls in love with Satine, a cabaret singer at the Moulin Rouge who has already been promised to another man, a Duke. The two secretly meet behind the back of the Duke as Satine’s wedding day gets closer, all the while neither man knows she is hiding a fatal secret from both of them. Aaron Tveit will rejoin the show from January 17th to April 9th at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on West 45 Street in Manhattan.
