December 13, 1989, is going to be recognized throughout the world, memorized, and engraved. That day, Taylor Swift was born, who now, at 35-years old, keeps breaking records, exciting fans, and building her dreams. Taylor Swift is an American singer and songwriter who has won many awards including the IFPI Global Recording a total of 5 times, 14 Grammy awards, an Emmy Award, awarded Album of the year several times, and Time person of the year. Rolling Stones and Billboard have ranked Swift into the greatest of all time. She is most-awarded artist in American Music Awards, Billboard Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards. These awards are well-deserved considering she has started this life at a young age (14), and since then released 12 albums, including her latest one, The Life of a Showgirl.
Taylor has constantly been surprising us. On May 30, 2025 she broke the internet with an Instagram post revealing her sitting in a white room with all her albums laid on the floor–she had repurchased her master albums that Scooter Braun had bought. Recording artists usually don’t have the control over their music and don’t get as much money. Now though, she’s reacquired her master albums, which has excited many fans who were supporting her throughout the way.
Then, on August 13, 2025, Taylor made an appearance in the podcast ‘New Heights’ which features Jason Kelce and his brother Travis Kelce, who’s Taylor’s boyfriend. During the podcast she talks about many things, but the highlight was a new announcement: “This is my brand new album. It’s called ‘The Life of a Showgirl’.” Immediately afterwards, clips were made from this very scene and posted everywhere on the internet. And soon everyone was looking forward to the release date and making theories about the song names, lyrics and what was to come.
On August 26, this year, we were given outstanding news: Taylor and Travis were engaged. When? Where? We soon found out that it was right after the podcast in their backyard, which was decorated with flowers to represent the “lover garden.” This captivated more than just the Swifties because finally the Taylor Swift will be getting married and we all wish the best for these soon-to-be-wedded couple!
Once the song names were released, we found out that the last track ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ featured Sabrina Carpenter, who was a close friend of Taylor and even performed several times in The Eras Tour. Every Swiftie and Sabrina Carpenter fan was now looking forward to October 3, 2025, the release date. The album was released at midnight, which many people stayed awake for or – like me – woke up earlier than usual. The album gained 4,002,000 sales by the end of the week, which broke Adele’s record, which was 3,482,000. This is her 15th album which was put on the Billboard 200 chart. She sold 5.5 million global which, in summary, is making music history for the first week. It was also announced that from October third to October fifth, ‘The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,” was going to be in theaters. It gave the audience the behind the scenes of her ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ music video and also showed us the video, the lyric videos of each song, and what inspired her to make these songs. Even through the great success, there have been many critics, sometimes even from the Swifities. Throughout that week, the internet shared their fair deal of opinions. Many Swifties hated on the album, saying the lyrics weren’t good enough and they expected better, or she was spending too much time with Sabrina due to her intimate lyrics, and that it was her worst album yet. Through all this negativity though, there were the other Swifties that supported Taylor and said that those people aren’t “real Swifties”, and that they were glad they were leaving so they could have a better chance at getting tickets on her next tour.
Now, whether you liked the album or not, it’s undeniable that Miss Swift is definitely turning heads and raising charts. Especially since October 13, when she gave us all another surprise with a Documental Series on Disney based on The Eras Tour and her “New Era.” And just like Taylor thanked her fans, I must say: “Thank you for the lovely bouquet.”
