After a long three years of waiting, Peacemaker season 2 has finally landed, wrapping up with a season finale that left fans with mixed motions. The season continued its signature dark humor from Season one and it was packed with action scenes that kept viewers on their toes.
If you’re unfamiliar with the show, Peacemaker is a DC-based series available on HBO Max that dives into the world of Christopher Smith (A.K.A. Peacemaker) and his crew, Emilia Harcourt, Leota Adebayo, John Economos, and Adrian Chase (Vigilante). Together, they call themselves the 11th Street Gang, a group of anti-heroes fighting off the world’s evil in the only way they know how. Along the way, they’re met with constant threats and impossible obstacles while trying to balance it with love, emotion, and friendship. The series blends explosive action with sharp humor and just the right amount of heart, grasping viewers into its chaotic, yet surprisingly emotional world. If you haven’t yet, I 100% recommend you check it out for yourself!
While most of the second season lived up to expectations, I believe the finale was a little disappointing. Unlike the other episodes, the finale felt very anticlimactic, aside from a few short minutes of action we received at the end. It lacked closure and left other fans, myself included, feeling a bit confused. The emotion was there, but how we got to that moment felt unclear. And now, with a third season unlikely, according to James Gunn, fans must now wait for the upcoming DC movie Man of Tomorrow, centered on Superman, to be released in order to see the next piece of Peacemakers story.
Despite its uneven finale, Peacemaker still delivered the humor, chaos, and heart that made fans fall in love with the first season. Whether or not this is the last time we see Christopher Smith, the series remains one of DC’s most unique and entertaining shows to date.
