Junior Julia Froese recently published her first book, Making Music with Confidence, on Amazon/Kindle Direct Publishing. It is available to order on Amazon.  Making Music with Confidence is about Froese’s four main steps for performing music at your “very best” and ensuring you are confident on stage.

A vocalist, Froese has been singing her entire life and grew up surrounded by music, causing her to develop a passion for it. For her Girl Scouts Gold Award Project, she wanted to get her ideas out there. She has developed a four-step process: “learning music, practicing music, warming up, and performing,” which she wanted to “put into something that people could read and understand rather than just doing workshops.” She believes that spreading information through books gives more people access to her techniques. Froese wants people to take away from her book that you can find inner confidence and be the musician you want to be. She said, “They can really go out there and accomplish their goals even if they feel scared to do so because everyone feels that way at some point in their life.  I really hope that people just go out there and make music because it’s what they’re passionate about and hopefully we discover more amazing musicians.”

Froese had never gotten a book published before or even known how. At the beginning of the project, she said she knew that she wanted to publish a book but there were some things she feared would be expensive. She ended up finding Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, which allows writers to publish paperback books for free. Froese said, “You can create a cover, add all the information, and put a price to it. It was pretty easy looking back. It’s on Amazon, and there’s a printing cost, but besides that it’s good. If you want to publish a book and get your words out there, that’s a great way to do it.”

She has thought about writing more books. Froese stated that it depends on what she wants to do with her life. She said, “I am thinking of continuing music throughout my life. I don’t know if I want to go into a profession yet, but I definitely know that music will be in my life forever. Even if I make a book about a fictional story, it will definitely have some type of music in it because it has been such a huge impact in my life.” She said she’s thought about other genres and found publishing Making Music With Confidence a great learning experience for the future if she did want to eventually publish more books.

Froese plans on going to college but is undecided about what she wants to do. She is also interested in science and the social sciences; Froese said, “I think I will definitely have music as part of my life in college, even if I don’t major or minor in it.” Froese was adamant that even if it isn’t her profession, music will continue to inspire her.

Making Music With Confidence is available for purchase on Amazon for $4.99.
