On September 27th, Wantagh High School hosted its second annual Summer Reading Celebration, and students across all four grade levels were rewarded for keeping up their academics over the summer. With 20 raffle prizes, each student got one ticket per book they had read, and the lucky winners were given gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses paired with a book.
At the ceremony, which took place in the school library after school, Director of Humanities Julie Rosslee started the festivities. English teachers took turns drawing tickets and awarding prizes to the lucky recipients, and needless to say, it was a success. The encouragement of students to read through fun prizes was a great idea, and the Wantagh High School community can’t wait for the third annual celebration next year.
