The hottest item this holiday season isn’t a toy, and isn’t a makeup product or jewelry piece. Rather, the item that will be found gift-wrapped en masse across the country: Stanley Tumblers. These cups range in color from pastels to neon, matte to shiny, and have captivated generations with their trendiness and hydration encouragement. Each of these bottles comes equipped with a reusable straw, convenient handle, and large liquid capacity. People are running to purchase these quality bottles, but one question remains: is their high price really worth it?
Their most popular product, the Quencher H2.O Flow State 40 Ounce Tumbler, can be found online and in stores such as Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods, normally priced at around $45.00. Is this really a fit price to pay for a water bottle? In a survey sent out to students at Wantagh High School, 75% of respondents reported that their Stanley Water Bottles cost $40.00 or more, which is a hefty investment for the product at hand. However, 62.5% of respondents also said that the water bottle was worth the price, as it kept their drinks cold and encouraged them to stay hydrated.
One question remains however: would customers get the same effects of the Stanley from other water bottle brands? Stores such as Amazon and Target have similar bottles for only 50% of the price of a Stanley. They have insulation features and an aesthetically-pleasing look, but it is doubtful that many consumers would switch out. The Stanley is a social media phenomenon, and the price of it makes for a great gift and a status check for those who can afford to dish out $40.00 on a water bottle.
The reviews are in, and Wantagh High School loves Stanley cups. Whether or not to buy one is up to each individual, but they are all the rage, and it doesn’t look like the trend will die down anytime soon.
