Though I have only written 6 articles for the Warrior, journalism has seen me grow and change. From my first article ranking each water fountain in the halls, to my most recent coverage of the boys basketball team— the Warrior is a digital analog of how my interests and writing abilities have evolved.
This club has been a place for me to express myself as I am, whoever that was at the time. From my geekiness in sophomore year, to a confident, involved journalist keeping up with school sports, the Warrior has been a hub for creativity and an outlet for many others. As many have said before me, I never thought this day would come. I didn’t think I’d have to say goodbye to the small things either in high school, such as journalism.
However, if I’ve learned one thing from my experience writing, it’s that you can pick up the pen whenever you want. Writing doesn’t have to be a serious account of events, you can make it your own. Such is life. Learning to forge my own path is the most valuable thing the Warrior has taught me. I implore underclassmen to write and be part of something much bigger than themselves. I’m forever thankful.
