It was last year when I heard about the journalism club, and I wanted to join more clubs to add to my resume. So, I joined the after school journalism club. This club was independent. Most of the work was done on your own time. Later that year, I met with my guidance counselor to make my schedule for senior year. I found out that there was an actual journalism class that was going to be meeting every other day. One major bonus about this class is the journalism teacher was Mr. Rafferty- whom I’ve had for English for the past two years. In my senior year, I participated in all of the papers. We have a total of three papers: A fall edition, a winter edition, and a spring edition. I am very proud of all I have accomplished this past year. This was a very creative space and because of this I became a stronger writer in these classes.
I’ve had a lot of memorable teachers. When I was in my freshman year of high school I had a teacher named Mrs. Butler, who has recently retired. She was always very supportive of me and would always check on me if I was absent. I am very grateful to have met her when I did. For tenth and eleventh grade I had a teacher named Mr. Margarites. I had him in English alongside Mr. Rafferty. And I also had him in skills alongside Mr. Klasson. He was very caring, hilarious and inspiring. And then in tenth and eleventh grade I had Mr. Bonomini for math. He was always so helpful and funny.
I grew up in the Wantagh School District for my whole childhood. Elementary school, middle school, and high school I bounced around from school to school in the same district. I made many friends who I shared memories with teachers who have taught me lessons that will last me a lifetime. I am very grateful for the support I have received from all of my teachers. I wish my peers nothing but good health, happiness, and peace.
Warm regards, Bridget!
