Walking across the grass four years ago at middle school graduation, I looked forward to the next few years of my life. I never could have imagined the end of high school would have come so quick. Although it passed in the blink of an eye, I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve created and the bonds I’ve formed with so many people.
I first decided to take journalism when I was making my schedule for senior year. I had recently found a passion for writing and decided it was something I had wanted to pursue. In a year filled with so much, being able to write about my interests was an escape from the rest of the world. I’ve learned so many new writing skills and techniques which have helped me become the writer I am today.
I’m thankful for my experiences here at Wantagh, including playing for the Warrior Football team and playing the sport I’ve loved since I was very young. Winning a Nassau County Championship was one of the proudest moments of my life and I’m forever thankful for the lessons my teammates and friends have taught me along the way. I’m thankful for the people in my life who have been there for me and I’m thankful for the way things have worked out in my life, whether I realized it or not. There have been many experiences which have made me more grateful for the life I have and have shown me who I can truly rely on. I’m thankful for the good and hard times which have changed my perspective on life for the better.
Saying goodbye to Wantagh will be difficult. Despite this, I’m excited to attend the University of Tampa and create new friendships, experiences, and memories and build a better life for myself. I want to thank my teachers and Mr. Rafferty for helping me find my love for writing and hone my skills.
