I chose this class on a whim, it was a 50/50 between Journalism and Study hall. It was just a class to fill up my schedule during an 11th grade guidance counselor meeting. Consequently, I had no idea what the class would be about, so I was surprised when I learned we were writing a newspaper. I had no idea we had a school newspaper until the first time I walked into this class! I wasn’t too sure about my ability to write for something like that, so I would have to see for my first article.
It started with my AI article (which I believe the problem has gotten worse, but that’s another article for another time) and I had the idea to create the “Technology” column in the paper. It was a genius idea, not only for the paper but for me! Now I had something I was interested in to write about, and the paper had some new content it had never seen before. I continued to write and was enjoying the process. I would have never expected to enjoy writing when I initially joined this class over a year ago.
As weird as it may seem, I am excited to leave Wantagh. For the first time in 7 years I will finally attend a new school, with new people and exciting prospects. Although I will miss this class, I believe it is time that we move on.
