School S-T-R-E-S-S

We’ve all had those days where waking up and going to school seems like the worst feeling in the world. You just want to stay wrapped up all day in your blankets and escape the stresses of the school week.
“I hate waking up and facing the stress of school, I wish there was a way to get rid of all this stress,” WHS sophomore Ashley Faverey says.
As a student myself I understand that a school day can really put a heavy weight on your shoulders. Everybody is so worried about their grades and with college coming up in a few short years us teens have to get prepared for one of the biggest decisions of our lives.
I’ve found some easy-simple steps that can really help alleviate the stress of a day-to-day school year.

1. Get enough SLEEP!
As teens we live for sleep. It’s one of our favorite hobbies. A healthy amount of sleep is 7-8 hours per night. Even though we like to stay up late it can really help your mind relax with the right amount of sleep.

2. Write down a routine
Keeping a journal or an agenda of your day routine can help organize your mind. Staying organized and not being scattered all over the place can keep your mind focused at the task at hand.

3. Exercise
Exercising can sound like a chore but getting at least 30 minutes a day can really help you out. It helps stress, gets rid of tension, and gives a self confidence boost. Punch a few bags and run a mile or two it’ll help your stress and get you into those skinny jeans!

4. Stay Calm
I know the stresses of life can get out of hand at times. Everything seems like a world wind. Stop, take a break, and breathe. Breathing is one of the most used techniques for relieving stress. You can also listen to your favorite music, take a hot bath, or read your favorite book. Giving yourself 30 minutes- 1 hour a day of breathing and relaxing will help your stress levels.

5. Remember to have FUN
All this hard work deserves a reward of fun. Hang out with some of your friends, grab a slice and just talk and laugh about your day. Creating study groups can also help the stress of your work load. You can still get your work done and have a great time with your friends. This will help distract you from the fact that you’re doing work.
Stress from school can really break a kid down. Just follow some of these simple steps every day and hopefully your stress will start to melt away.
