Au Revoir! French Idol, run by Mrs. Vargas-Curatola and her French students, has come and gone again. This year was quite a show. Judges were Mr. Peter Mountanos, Mrs. Psihos and Mrs. Hampson.

There were participants from all grades. Contestants were Nicole Ninivaggi, Robert Seaman, Stephanie Beuttenmuller, Crisitina Zirilli, Lauren Farrell, Jessica Rothe,Emily McLane, Jordan Rabinowitz, Bryce Powell, Mr. Brown and Sam Hutt, Ruth Kupperburg, Mr. Naughton, Monique Fischella, and Wantagh’s Choral Ensemble.

Most of the acts were songs in French, Italian, every contestant was on key and avid for foreign language. Unfortunately, next year’s sixth graders will not have the option of taking French due to a low enrollment in that course.

Winners were Monique Fischella and Mr. Brown and Sam Hutt. They won gift certificates to the Nook in Wantagh and Bistro Citron in Roslyn, respectively.

“I enjoy French; its really beautiful. And people who travel have an advantage if they can speak the language.” says junior Nikoleta Mountanos, who will be taking french for her fifth year next year.

“All of the contestants were really good. It’s cool that they can sing in a different language,” says junior Arianna Hill, who takes Spanish.

Don’t forget to check out great french food of Long Island at the Nook (3195 Sunrise Highway, Wantagh, NY) and Bistro Citron (1362 Old Northern Boulevard, Roslyn, NY).
