Fun Fall Activities

Do you have any exhilarating fall plans? This season, there are many outdoor activities to explore with family and friends. Eastern Long Island has orchards filled with apples and fields of pumpkins. Some well known places include Harbes Orchard in Riverhead, Briermere Farms and Schmitt’s Family Farm.

I recommend traveling to Upstate NY because there are plenty of apples to choose from on several acres of land. Harbes Orchard is one of my favorite fields from out east. They have a fantastic family-oriented vicinity for all ages. Many farms have corn mazes that are tricky to exit once you’re in. When traveling out east, there are countless farm stands that grow local fruits and vegetables. They are freshly picked to buy and savor for dinner. Another interest to consider is pumpkin carving.

Fall festivals, walks for causes at Jones Beach, and haunted houses are some other enjoyable activities to do this October. Bayville Adventure Park is a thrilling place to be if you’re into exploring haunted houses. If you are more of a relaxed type of person, The Cup Coffee House and The Witches’ Brew are a few cafes to try in your spare time.

At Jones Beach there are several walks to get involved in with your friends and family. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is an amazing way to get involved with your community and walk for a cause. Last year, more than 50,000 people walked at Field 5 at Jones Beach. This year, there will be a Breast Cancer Awareness walk Sunday, October 16th. Other walks to think about in the future are the Autism Awareness walk, Pancreatic Cancer Research walk, American Heart Association walk, and more! It is always wonderful to get out into the community and try new and exciting things specifically this time of the year!
