The Blackies won Sportsnite for the second year in a row, March 8 The Black team’s theme was Blackies in the Big Apple and Gold’s theme was Goldies on the Calendar. The overall captains for the black team are Alyssa Estro and Cat Millman, and the overall captains for the gold team are Justina Scibelli and Maggie L’Eplattenier.

Both teams worked so hard this year, and every dance looked amazing. Black started off the night with 9 points due to winning T-shirt, cover, and volleyball. This lead definitely helped lead the black team to victory.

For the first time in years, the athletic director Ms. Keane was the announcer of awards instead of Mr. Svolos, a science teacher who didn’t attend as a result of the contract impasse between the Wantagh United Teachers and the Wantagh Board of Education. Nonetheless, Ms. Keane did a great job and kept the crowd loud and excited. The crowd had amazing energy and gave every girl motivation to scream louder and dance harder.

The final score at the end of the night was 43.4-39.6, Black. Blackie senior Gina-Marie LaRosa says, “I am so happy to have ended my sportsnite career with a win.”

The Goldies worked just as hard as the Black team. “Even though we didn’t win, I still had so much fun and I’m so happy to have two more years to make more memories with my team,” said Goldie Sophomore Grace Kane.

As a senior, I am so happy to have been a part of Sportsnite and I am forever thankful to have made the memories that will last a lifetime.
