New ENL and Science Teachers
November 6, 2022
As the 2022-2023 school year unfolds, a wonderful group of new teachers were introduced to Wantagh High School. We have both Patrick Chin, who teaches ENL, and Taylor Zuckerman, who teaches both Chemistry and Conceptual Physics.
Mr. Chin says, “I was born and raised in Merrick, so not too far away! Before Wantagh I was working at a middle school in Jackson Heights, Queens, teaching ENL and Social Studies.” He explains how, “I teach ENL and I love working with students who are learning English. I have been fortunate to work with students from various backgrounds who speak many different languages and it is very rewarding to teach.” Mr. Chin said, “Wantagh is a great School District and has a terrific reputation. I have always heard awesome things about Wantagh and when I first came everyone was very supportive, which made my decision even easier.” In addition he said that, “What I love about working at Wantagh is the positive energy. It is a welcoming environment where everyone is happy to be and looks forward to school everyday. Teachers work hard here and students are eager to learn.” Chin stated, “I have always loved working with children of all ages so it was a no brainer for me to go into teaching. Growing up I always worked at summer camps and found it easy to be around kids. I had amazing teachers growing up who had a positive impact on me so I value the importance of having good teachers.”
Ms. Zuckerman, another new teacher to Wantagh, explains how, “I worked at Great Neck South MS & HS and taught 7th grade life science and high school Marine Biology. Feel free to ask me anything about sharks! I currently teach Chemistry and Conceptual Physics. I love that students get to apply scientific concepts to the real world.” She chose Wantagh because “I was drawn to Wantagh HS’s amazing school spirit and camaraderie! Go Warriors!” She likes working at Wantagh as, “I truly appreciate Wantagh’s tight knit community. I love that staff and students can come together to support meaningful causes, and I really enjoy working with staff and students here.” Ms. Zuckerman states that she went into teaching because, “I wanted to be a role model for kids, especially for kids with learning challenges. It is imperative that students know with hard work, determination and a body of well-informed educators, anything is truly possible. I hope to be an inspiration to a student that might feel frightened or embarrassed by their learning struggles.”
Wantagh is lucky to have these two enthusiastic teachers as part of its staff.
