In April, multiple students from Wantagh High School received an honorable mention for their exceptional work in the Toshiba ExploraVision Science Competition.
In the Toshiba ExploraVision Science Competition, students have to create an invention for a certain problem they see in the world. The groups behind AquaNova and Cardiac Alert Roaming Emergency Nurse, Wantagh’s submissions to the competition, both received mentions for their work and were recognized for their inventions. These students were selected as top 10% of all American and Canadian contestants.
Wantagh students Gianna Giglio, Charlotte Herson, Leia Gallagos, and Cara Coseglia were credited for their AquaNova project which was an invention to increase shelf life of vaccines to be used for developing countries. In addition, Veronica Familio, Caitlin Donchoe, and Morgan Crespo were acknowledged for their Cardiac Alert Roaming Emergency Nurse which uses built-in sensors to detect early signs of heart attacks and strokes for patients in hospitals and nursing homes. The lead science research teacher, Mrs.Clarke, added, “to see their hard work be recognized is such a great feeling.”
The students involved in this competition’s perseverance, extensive research and dedication to their project has shown how they have clearly deserved their recognition for their inventions. Congratulations to all of the students involved for the recognition of their hard work so early in your high school careers.
