Here at Wantagh, “The Home of the Warriors”, school spirit is high. As the streets fled with students, organizations, clubs and community businesses, the community cheered. This was a once a year moment where everyone, a part of the school and community, came to support and honor our school. The crowd and the people in the parade wore black and yellow clothes to support our school colors. The parade included the Wantagh High School marching band, Wantagh High Schools dance team, Wantagh High Schools cheer team, Wantagh High School clubs, Homecoming King and Queen contestants, floats for each grade, and much more.
As the parade came to an end, everyone led and followed onto the Warrior football field. The stands fled with students, staff, and the community of all ages. The stands were loud as they spoke the pledge of allegiance. Then, the kick off between the Wantagh Warriors and the Hewlett Bulldogs, began.
Half time starts and that is when the Wantagh High School Dance and Cheer teams, as well as the marching band, perform. The Wantagh High School Cheer team performed a stellar performance getting the stands up and cheering. Wantagh High School’s marching band performed with conductors, Olivia Scherer, Madison Rodriguez, and Sean Tonoco, who all did a fantastic job leading the band through an amazing performance. Wantagh High School’s dance team performed to the band’s music, as well as their own sound track leaving the crowd in awe of amazement.
After the performances, it was time to announce Wantagh High School’s 2025 Homecoming King and Queen, as well as the class who won the best float. After a long suspenseful wait, the three female nominees, Calaya Encarnacion, Sophia Aufiero and Lana Lee, eagerly stood before the crowd to find out the 2025 Homecoming Queen. The runner ups were Calaya Encarnacion and Sophia Aufiero, the 2025 Homecoming queen was Lana Lee, and the Homecoming King was Ryan Martone. Next, was the announcement of the winner of the class floats. The float themes this year were seasons. The Freshmen were the Spring, the Sophomores were the Winter, the Juniors were the Fall, and the Seniors were the Summer. The Juniors took the lead with this one, with an astonishing fall float.
Later, was the second half of the football game. The Warriors fought hard throughout the game. The crowd cheered and supported them throughout. The game ended, and The Warriors gained a victory! The crowd leaped from the stands and cheered. There was so much community and school spirit. This homecoming was without a doubt one of the best, and every year, it just keeps getting better.
