Who Will Win the World Series? Mets or Royals?

Six teams down, two to go. Will the Mets or the Royals win the World Series?

The Royals beat the Blue Jays 4-3, October 22. In the top of the 8th inning when the Royals were up 3-1, Royals reliever, Ryan Madson, came to the mound to face Blue Jays right fielder, Jose Bautista, and Bautista hit a game tying two-run homer. The Royals struck back in the bottom of the 8th inning as Royals first basemen, Eric Hosmer, hit the go- ahead RBI single scoring Royals center fielder, Lorenzo Cain, all the way from first base. Then in the top of the 9th, Royals closer, Wade Davis, came into the game. After he gave up two hits to the first two batters he faced, he struck out the next two batters and got the final out with a groundball to third basemen, Mike Moustakas.

The Royals only won one World Series in 1985 against the St. Louis Cardinals. They won the American League pennant last year, but lost the World Series in seven games to the San Francisco Giants. The Royals were the first team since the 1963 Giants to go back to the World Series after losing in game seven.

As for the Mets, they have won two World Series, in 1969 against the Baltimore Orioles and in 1986 against the Boston Red Sox. In 1986, the Mets had star players such as Keith Hernandez, Mookie Wilson, Dwight Gooden, Daryl Strawberry, Ron Darling. It’s just like 1986 all over again for the Mets, as they have David Wright, Yoenis Cespedes, Daniel Murphy, Matt Harvey, and Jacob deGrom.

As a Yankees fan, I hate to say this, but I think the Mets are going to be the 2015 World Series champions. Their pitching is unbelievable and they can shut down any lineup. They also have a hot playoff lineup led by Daniel Murphy who had just broken a record on October 2t. He hit six home runs in six straight postseason games. Murphy broke Carlos Beltran’s record as Beltran hit five home runs in the 2004 postseason with the Houston Astros. This will be an exciting World Series to watch.
