NHL Trade Deadline Day Scores for a Number of Teams

The day of the NHL trade deadline, February 25, wasn’t looking very active. Then teams made their deals.

In the days prior to the deadline Matt Duchene and Julius Bergman were traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Vitaly Abramov, Jonathan Davidson a 2019 1st round pick, and a 2020 conditional first round pick. The Detroit Red Wings traded Nick Jensen and a 2019 5th round pick to the Washington Capitals for Madison Bowery and a 2020 2nd round pick. The New York Rangers sent out Mats Zuccarello to Dallas Stars for their 2019 conditional 2nd round pick as well as their 2020 conditional 3rd round pick. The Columbus Blue Jackets made another trade with the Ottawa Senators that sent out Anthony Duclair (a former Ranger) and 2020 and 2021 2nd round picks for Ryan Dzingel and a 2019 7th round pick. The Buffalo Sabers traded Brandon Montour to the Anaheim ducks in exchange for Brendan Guhle and a 2019 1st round pick.The Red Wings traded Gustav Nyquist to the San Jose Sharks for a 2019 2nd round pick and a conditional 3rd round pick. The final deal before trade deadline day which was between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the New Jersey Devils which sent Keith Kinkaid to Columbus for a 2022 5th round pick.

Trade deadline day wasn’t very active to start. In the beginning half of the day a few trades were made starting off with a deal by the New York Rangers and the Winnipeg Jets which involved the Rangers shipping out Kevin Hayes and in return they received Brendan Lemieux, a 2019 First round pick and a 2022 conditional 4th round pick. The Colorado Avalanche Traded Derick Brassard and a 2020 condition 6th round pick to the Florida panthers for a 2020 3rd round pick. The Minnesota Wild and the Nashville Predators made a 1-for-1 trade which involved the Predators receiving Mikael Granlund and the Wild getting Kevin Fiala. The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Vancouver Canucks traded Erik Gudbranson to Pittsburgh for Tanner Pearson.

It was not until 15 minutes before the deadline that the biggest deal was finalized which sent Mark Stone to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Erik Brannstrom, Oscar Lindberg and a 2020 2nd round pick.

After that one other buzzer beater went through just before the 3 p.m. deadline which involved the Flyers trading Wayne Simmons to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Ryan Hartman and a 2020 conditional 4th round pick.
