Baseball Team Stunned in playoffs by Mepham

The Wantagh baseball team, which made the playoffs for the 25th consecutive year in 2019, were stunned in the first game against Mepham High School. The Warriors opened up the postseason against the Mepham Pirates at Molloy College, May 14. Wantagh got off to an early 2-0 lead, and shut down the Pirates for five innings thanks to fireballer Mason McLane. However, in the 6th, Mepham started climbing back, cutting the lead to one. In the 7th, the Pirates bats came alive, completing the heartbreaking comeback, walking off against the Warriors 3-2.

Wantagh sadly ended their season with a final record of 13-6. Although the season ended shorter than they wanted, the boys in pinstripes will never forget the memories and friendships they made this season. The graduating seniors will be missed next season.
