Girls’ Volleyball Team Wins Conference Title

Claudia Corbett, Reporter

Many fall sports are coming to an end. Luckily for the Wantagh Warriors Girls’ Varsity Volleyball Team, coached by Dan O’Shea, the season can go for a bit longer.

The returning New York State Class A champions have been very successful finishing with a 12-2 league record within Conference A. After taking a hard fought loss against Lynbrook early within the season, the Warriors used that as fuel to come back with a victory the second time playing Lynbrook just less than a week ago.

The Warriors lost their last league game against the Southside Cyclones. Though the Warriors lost they were still announced Conference A champions. The Lynbrook Owls and The Southside Cyclones are tied for second both with 10-4 records.

Since the Warriors are currently in first place, they automatically advance to playoffs where they can start their journey to states. The Warriors will have to win 3 playoff games in order to have a shot at a 2nd straight Nassau County title. After that would come, hopefully, the Long Island Championships and then the final four at States.

The first playoff game for the Warriors will be on Monday, November 4 and the rest of the dates are yet to be announced.
