Wantagh Wrestling Hits the Mat

Luke Janosko, Sports Editor

Wantagh Wrestling kicked off the season with their annual turkey trot at Cedar Creek Park on Thanksgiving morning. This is a great event that brings the team together with coaches and alumni.

In preparation for the season, the team all bleached their hair. We called it a team BLONDER. This was a tradition from years ago that the current seniors decided to bring back.

Our first tournament of the season is the Battle at the Beach in Long Beach. The Warriors did a great job with 12 Varsity wrestlers placing in the top 5; the team placed second overall. This was the first official varsity tournament since the 2020 State Championships. Wantagh is ranked second in the state to start the season.
