Girls’ Varsity Tennis had a record season finishing first in their conference as they start to gear up for playoffs against Hewlett. For a grand majority of the team, the hardest part of the season ending is not retiring their rackets for the winter, but rather saying goodbye to the seniors, many of whom have been on the team since freshman year when the team was coached by temporary substitute teacher Brett Verini. How times have changed…
Girls’ Tennis is led by seniors Meghan Lee, Brooke Minogue, Olivia Bellling, Nyla Lester, Sierra Kenny, Nicolatta Zito, Madelyn Hartmann, Rachel Rissland, Melissa Lento, Maylani Lee, Sophia Pangretic, Emily Korotki, Shane Adams and Kristen Mittel, coached by Chrsitine Moran. Many of the seniors have been playing for the team since freshman year and are sad to see their tenure with the tennis team end. About her tenure on the Varsity Tennis Team, Meghan Lee stated, “I think whether I was playing or not, joining the team was the best thing that has ever happened to me.” She added that she has “become a lot more confident and made so many friends [she] wouldn’t have become close with outside of the team.”
The monumental season is the perfect highlight to close out the season and the seniors’ time on the Varsity Girls Tennis team.
