Wantagh’s very own Girls Varsity Soccer team has reached the status of conference champs for the first time since 2019! With captains Isabella Astaiza, Isabella Teresky, Sienna Diglio, and Juliana Cerasi, the team has had a beyond successful run ultimately finishing their regular season with 6 wins, 3 ties, and only 2 losses.
Following a huge conference victory on October 19th, the team heads to playoffs on October 25th where they aim to make their “revenge tour.” After losing to MacArthur High School last season in the quarterfinals, returning senior players Isabella Astaiza, Isabella Teresky, Sienna Diglio, Grace Fulton, Brighid Smith, Isabelle Witte, and Paige Martin are hungry to be overall playoff champions.
However, Brighid Smith was able to reflect on the finished regular season stating that “(our) confidence as a team has grown and we’ve really made it together. We’ve had an amazing, successful journey.” All 7 senior players were honored on their senior day on October 6th in a shutout 3-0 win against Lynbrook. As they’ve had an astounding season thus far, the Wantagh community has high hopes that they’ll advance towards their “goal” and we wish them the best of luck!
