This year our Girls Varsity Volleyball team is having a great season with a new mindset. Coaches are using phrases, “earn everything” and “lean in” to demonstrate teamwork and perseverance. A tough fight was sadly put to rest when a devastating loss occurred in the semifinals against Calhoun High School. But now, the team is ready to come back stronger than ever and try their hardest to push even further to attend States once again, and hopefully bring back the title.
When the three captains were asked how they feel about the rest of the season, senior Jackie Mundy said, “I am looking forward to the rest of the season. I can’t wait to keep playing for the rest of the season with my best friends.” Senior Lauren Lerch said, “(t)his is the most hardworking team I have ever been on and I can’t wait to see where that takes us. I’m happy that these are the girls I get to be on the court with for my senior season.” Junior Sadie Reich said “I am so excited to see what the rest of the season will bring us, especially as we get into the playoffs. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish once we reach it.” All these girls have also mentioned potential in each and every girl on the team. Their leadership and commitment show the heart of these captains that advocate for the rest of the team.
Hopeful for a successful season, the league record for our Warriors is 6-8. The playoffs are beginning and we wish nothing but the best for our girls on the Wantagh Girls Varsity Volleyball team!
