Wantagh High School is well known for its athletic department. The varsity boys swim team lives up to this standard. With an outstanding record of 7-3, the boys prove their strength in every race they enter. Their love for the sport and the care for their teammates push the boys to reach for the stars, or in their case, the finish line.
The idea of a team being a family is expressed through the ideas of the senior captains, Stephen D’Amato and Matt Silverman. Silverman describes that, “joining the swim team was one of the best decisions I ever made and I’m really going to miss everyone that made it so great.” D’Amato expresses similar feelings of the team consistently coming together. He says this is best helped by, “our coach, Mr. Rafferty who truly cares about all his players and we’re happy to have him as such an amazing role model in our lives.” Seeing as the leaders of this team described synonymous responses there is a clear idea of unity within this team. With the help of their coach, this team has seen many victories.
The expression of unity within a team is everything that Wantagh stands for. We see this through all of our amazing athletics. The boys swim team is such a great example of this due to its captains abilities to offer insight of harmony. With the proof of a strong record, we can use this team as a blueprint of how to create even stronger bonds with our surrounding teammates, and even classmates. Congratulations on a great season!
