The 2025 Wantagh Varsity Cheerleading Team has had a great season already.  The team has competed weekly at competitions, performing high level skills.  The team’s captains are Jayla George, Kayla Spisto, and Julia Avena.  The girls have been on the team for multiple years.  In December, the team competed at the UCA Empire Regional competition at Iona University.  There, the girls received 8th place for their Game Day routine and 5th place for their traditional routine.  The team received a bid to the UCA National Competition for both routines.  

Four year Wantagh Varsity Cheerleader and senior captain, Jayla George states, “We are a very close team.  We can always trust each other and push each other to achieve our goals.”  The team is also led by head coach Katie Savage and assistant coaches Nicole Jeacoma and Grace Obregon.  “We all always support one another because we realized that when we support each other, we perform best”, says senior captain Kayla Spisto.  In February, the team will take flight to Orlando, Florida to compete in the UCA High School National Championships. We all wish them the best of luck in Florida and with the rest of their season!
