The End of a Decade

Hannah Popadin-Lesniak, Reporter

On December 31,2019 the decade will end and we will enter the “twenties.” The decade we are in right now is called the “twenty-tens.” according to

The decade that all Wantagh students have grown up in is about to end. What will be in store for us over the next ten years? We will graduate high school, go to college, get jobs, and start our lives. I am excited to see what is in store for me and where I will go with my life.

It’s scary to think about the future but also very exciting at the same time. As we are leaving the “twenty-tens” this decade has brought a spark in music, entertainment, politics, fashion, and so much more.

Now let’s reflect back on some of the most popular things that happened in the past ten years:

  • April 2010- The first iPad came out
  • April 2011- Millions tuned in to watch a royal wedding
  • December 2012- People thought the world would end
  • April 2013- Everyone learned “The Cup Song” from Pitch Perfect
  • July 2014- Everyone was doing the Ice Bucket Challenge
  • February 2015- The internet had a heated debate over a dress
  • May 2016- Harambe became an internet phenomenon
  • May 2017- Everyone was playing with fidget spinners
  • January 2018- There was a false missile warning in Hawaii
  • April 2019- We got the first-ever photo of a black hole

So what will the  roaring twenties give us?
