ASK CRISTINA – Prom Issues

Cristina Zirilli, Reporter

Dear Cristina,

I’m nervous about asking my crush to prom. Do you have any advice for me? I really want to ask my crush, but I don’t know how.

Sincerely,
Prom worried

Dear Prom Worried,

Luckily, you still have plenty of time, as most people don’t start asking people to prom until February!! First of all, don’t be nervous. I know it seems like a big deal, but it’s just a dance. You will have a fun time with all of your friends, regardless of who your date is. Is your crush aware of your feelings towards them? If so, asking them will be a bit easier as it won’t be a total shock to them. You could ask them by giving them candy, designing a special poster, or even just asking them. It doesn’t have to be too complicated, it is the thought put into it that matters more than anything. Although you may see many people doing this, you don’t have to put a picture on Instagram or tell every last person about your promposal. Sometimes trying to brag to everyone could make the moment less special. It’s ultimately up to you. Also, you can tell your friends you are planning on asking your crush to prom so they can support you. If your crush says no, it is not the end of the world, and your friends will be there to support you. If you don’t have a date to prom you can still have a good time. Take pictures with your group of friends. Enjoy the delicious food, the catering is usually awesome. Form a dance circle with your friends. Usually some skilled dancers will jump in the center and entertain everyone. The kids on the outside of the circle do a simple coordinated dance so people won’t be judging your dancing style because everyone will be dancing the same way. Just have fun! Enjoy your night and don’t stress about it.

Sincerely,
Cristina
