New Social Studies Teacher: Wantagh Welcomes Ms. Ward

As a community and school, Wantagh has continued to grow each year by welcoming new teachers and students.This year Wantagh has welcomed a new teacher, Ms. Ward. Ms. Ward teaches three sections of Global Studies II, two half year sections of College Criminal Justice, and one section of 9th and 10th grade English New Language.

Ms. Ward grew up in New Hyde Park and attended Binghamton University where she majored in History and Italian and minored in Education and Global Studies. After Binghamton Ms. Ward worked as a paralegal and completed a Paralegal Certification Program at Molloy College. At the same time, she began her Advanced Social Studies Certification program at Queens College. Ms. Ward then completed her Masters in Education in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Queens College. She was a student teacher at Farmingdale High School and moved on to work at various other high schools including Oceanside High School, Great Neck South High School, Islip Middle School and New Hyde Park Memorial High School.

Ms. Ward thoroughly enjoys working at Wantagh High School and loves being a part of our community and staff. She points out the welcoming and supportive staff Wantagh has. She also mentions the high involvement of students, parents, and faculty. Ms. Ward hopes to enhance the knowledge of her students and get involved in more extracurricular activities in the future.
