The Battle of the Bands is an annual concert performed by members of Wantagh High School. Students get to show off their talents and skills from beyond the classroom. Students and staff get to express their creative side as well as use music as a way of expression.
The Battle of the Bands started off with Evan Mostransky and Brady Wolken. They took the stage by entering through a small door and coming through like an optical illusion. Evan was on guitar and vocal and Brady was on drums. Evan wrote the three songs they performed himself, and he mentioned that these songs were personal and really related to him, which showed through the way he performed them with such power and confidence.
The second band to perform is Sedated. The members of this band include Nick Lerro, Adrian Rafael De Chavez, Matthew Glasser, and Anya Dennis. Nick was on the drums; Adrian was on piano, guitar, and vocal; Matthew was on bass guitar, and Anya was on bass guitar.
The third band to perform was the teacher band. This band consisted of many talented music teachers across the district. The teachers include Ms. Cassidy on vocals, Ms. DellaMonica on violin, Mr. Annunziata on bass guitar, Mr. Aviles on drums, and Mr. Brody on bass guitar. Students also helped the performance, including Sean Tonico on trumpet, Adrian Rafael De Chavez on percussion, Ian Frazer, and Brendan O’Callaghan on trumpet. The teachers performed an amazing performance and really showed the students why they are the music teachers
The fourth band to perform was Tilt. The members of this band include Thomas Taggart on electric guitar, Sean Tinoco on vocal and electric guitar, Nick Lerro on drums, and Martin Lindquist on bass guitar. They continue to amaze us with their outstanding performance.
The last and final group of the night is Half Hill Hotel. This group consisted of Sam Evans on vocal and guitar, Brendan O’Callaghan on bass guitar, Brady Wolken on drums, Adrian Rafael De Chavez on bass guitar and piano, with a guest of Frankie Giovanniello on bass guitar. This band was originally a small group practicing in Sam’s garage, and it turned into a passion throughout their high school careers.
All of these bands were outstanding and fantastically represented Wantagh High School with their creativeness and musical skills. All of the money raised for that night will go to the senior prom and a special thanks to the performers who are seniors. These seniors light up Wantagh High School not just with their amazing musical talents but with their kindness, and the laughter they bring to everyone.
