Before joining Journalism, I underestimated the responsibilities and dedication that came with being part of the class. I initially viewed it as an elective that would simply help fill my schedule, but I quickly realized it was much more than that. Looking back, enrolling in Journalism was one of the best decisions I made during my high school career.
Through this program, I have formed lasting friendships with talented writers and journalists, developed valuable skills, and discovered a passion I never expected to find. The experiences I gained in Journalism challenged me to grow both academically and personally, and I am incredibly proud of everything I have accomplished during my time on the staff.
Although I do not plan to pursue journalism in college, the skills I have learned, communication, collaboration, leadership, and critical thinking, will remain with me for years to come. Journalism has been a constant and meaningful part of my high school experience, and I cannot imagine where I would be today without it. It has opened countless doors and provided opportunities for growth that have shaped me into the person I am today.
As I prepare to graduate, I am filled with both excitement and bittersweet emotions. While it will be difficult to be away from the friends and community that have meant so much to me, I would not change a single part of my high school journey. I am grateful for the memories, lessons, and opportunities I have gained at Wantagh High School, and I look forward to the next chapter of my life at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
