Who’s Who? Meet Jean DePasquale

Everyone knows the friendly face that greets you everyday you come into and leave the building. The amazing Jean Depasquale. Many students and faculty know her but may not know about her life other than a nice woman who loves to greet the students.

Jean grew up and went to high school in Brooklyn, New York. She lived with her mother, father, and two sisters. Jean was on her school’s badminton and track team. She didn’t attend college but she did meet her husband on a blind date that was set up by one of her high school friends. She was a senior in high school and he was two years into college. They lived in Brooklyn until moving to South Bellmore after having two sons. She was able to stay home with them until her oldest son started college. A few years after having her sons she started working at her previous job, Morgan Stanley brokerage house where she worked for 18 years. After Jean retired she got bored of staying at home, watching all of her friends work. So she decided to apply for the security front desk position at Wantagh High School. Jean has been working at Wantagh for 10 years.

She stated “It’s like a party everyday.” She loves working here because of the faculty, administration and the students. She mentioned how much she enjoys her time here with the teachers and how they like to see each other outside of school. Her job is to make sure the lobby is secure, manage the front desk and greet the students and faculty. She also has to check visitors and parents into the building, as well as check student IDs as the students enter and exit the building. “The students are beyond words…” Jean commented. I asked Jean if there was anything she disliked about her job and she said absolutely not. She has cherished and loved the 10 years she has worked here.
