The JV girls’ lacrosse team has had an unbelievable start to the 2018 season. With only two games remaining against Garden City and Oceanside, the Warriors are undefeated.

The girls are led by coach Casey Capece, who graduated from Wantagh as Casey Gavin and played for the Warriors.
With captains Gianna Surace (sophomore), Dylan Small (sophomore), and Leena Moussa (freshman), the Warriors have been outstanding on all parts of the field. The JV girls’ defense consists of stellar goalie Gianna Surace, Reilly Brady, Olivia Benedetto, Emma Gonsowski, Claire Yustat, Shannon Smith, and Gina Calise.

The D has succeeded against teams like Manhasset, Cold Spring Harbor, and Massapequa. The Warriors attackers Alyssa Dvorznak, Lizzie Droluk, Leah Rubbo, Kelly Casey, Jenna Kaufmann, Dylan Small, and 7th graders Eva Ingrilli and Madison Alaimo have been super confident going to the cage. Playing both offense and defense are middies Leena Moussa, and 8th graders Madison Taylor and Erin Whitaker.

“We have been able to prove our talent and teamwork so far,” said Capece. “But we showed perseverance and rallied in the 12-11 victory against Manhasset.”
